Martha Stewart Comes Home
Martha Stewart Comes Home
Martha Stewart, special needs chicken, meets her new adopted brood in the shower, cheered on by April, the miracle cat who survived her 2006 tour through the clothes dryer. Never boring around here!

Two weeks after they met in the shower, Martha Stewart and her adoptees are happy residents of the dog run...and Brer Fox is nowhere to be found.

A simple garden hose becomes a water attraction for the little piglets, who haven't yet figured out that they can take a drop and a one-stroke penalty and avoiding trying to hit over the thing altogether.

Occasionally you run across something so beautiful that even my cynical heart melts. This brilliant white dove was one of those things.

This is the story of Dolly from her first appearance as a stray to her terrible abuse by her first adoptive parent, to her return to health at our veterinary clinic, to her adoption by Erica Daniel.

Piggy Yard Work

The pigs digging up my lawn!
Pigs, regardless of age, are incredible rooters and can furrow a piece of ground in no time looking for all manner of yummies. Maria's offspring waste no time in helping Annie aerate her front yard.

Rehabbing Martha Stewart, Special Needs Chicken
Rehabbing Martha Stewart, Special Needs Chicken
Annie rehabs yet another special needs fowl, a chicken named Martha Stewart, in her home shower.
In our home, the traditional place to house special needs chickens and turkeys while they heal from their various injuries is the shower. So I've been nursing Martha Stewart, special needs chicken, back to health in said shower. This includes taking her for rehab walks in the sunshine, which she seems to enjoy. Of course, her name is part of a shameless attempt to get the real Martha Stewart as a guest on All Paws Pet Talk. I wonder if she'll be flattered by this?

Mummy, do we have any more milk?

The piglets are hungry...what a shock!
After one week, Maria's brood of piglets (which we have not named yet, though I'm leaning toward terribly macabre things like Bacon, Carnitas, Sausage and Pulled Pork Sandwich) is hungry pretty much all the time. I don't know what's with the fellow mucking about up by Maria's nose; he may be a directionally challenged pig.

Maria the pig's family of adorable little pink and black-and-white piggies running about after a morning feeding. If you don't think this is just about the cutest thing you have ever seen, then check yourself into the hospital right now, because there's something seriously wrong with you. In a few months, these guys will weigh 100 pounds and creating enough poop to bury a Buick, but for right now they are Wilbur, each and every one of them. Some pigs!

Talk about disoriented! You're just out of the womb and your biggest worry is that your mom will squash you into pork rinds with her bulk. And you thought your mornings were tough.

The piglets get down on mummy's tummy—yummy! Sorry, I couldn't resist the rhyming.
The piglets go to town on mummy's teats. They'll feed for hours each day and gain weight at a rate that usually requires Ben and Jerry's. Hmm, I wonder if one of those things serves Guiness?
